Tyrone Humphrey Jr.

Tyrone Humphrey Jr., is currently the Program Manager of the Indy HeartBeat Violence Reduction Initiative, a collective impact approach of reducing juvenile violence and gang suppression. Indy HeartBeat is a collaborative program joining Eskenazi Health's Prescription for Hope Program and the Marion County Public Health Department's Violence Prevention Program through a grant received from the Office Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Safe and Thriving Communities: Uniting and Enhancing Community-Based Violence Prevention, Defending Childhood, and National Forum Approaches program.

Indy HeartBeat is a program focused on promoting healing, increase the protection factors, well-being and healthy development of children, youth, and families. While preventing, reducing, and sustaining reduction in violence including victimization. Tyrone manages the strategic work of the Indy HeartBeat Plan of Action and supporting strategies and action steps for successful, impactful, implementation. Mr. Humphrey in concert with a community volunteer base that consists of youth advocates, educational institutions, government entities, corporations, not-for-profits and variety of community leaders that have a passion of addressing the complex societal and socio-economic issues represented throughout Marion County.

Tyrone has an extensive career in Human Services, Early Childhood Education and Nonprofit Management, and proven track record where he has previously served as a Project Manager with Indiana Black Expo OpportunINDY and the Greater Indianapolis Progress Committee Plan 2020. He has worked in the private sector as an independent master’s level clinician while working with underserved youth and families involved in the criminal and child welfare systems.
As a native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Tyrone graduated from Indiana State University receiving his Bachelor’s Degrees in African and African American Studies and Studio Art Design. He later attended Eastern Illinois University, earning his Master’s Degree in Family and Consumer Science with a concentration in Family System Theory.

Tyrone epitomizes integrity, hard work, and creative service by giving back and being a “Change Agent,” dedicated to improving the lives of residents and communities at-large throughout Indianapolis. Mr. Humphrey is a husband, loving father of 3 and is passionate about empowering vulnerable communities affected by systematic risk factors.
