We had a great time meeting all the girls who came out for the Staten Island expo on the beautiful CSI campus. Some of the highlights were scenes from the Harriet Tubman play presented by Sundog Theater and an amazing dance performance by Exposure Dance Studio. We Loved the Self-defense demo by Calle Karate and sensei Mary. It was inspiring to see so many girls teaching other girls how to defend themselves. Jaclyn Tacoronte from JMT media lead a successful You.com social media session which had all the girls talking. Staten Island Heart Society certified girls in CPR and the University Hospital presented tourniquet training for the "Stop the Bleed" campaign. It was a fun and supportive environment with one of the best high school advisory boards ever. Thank you Sara, Angelica, Tatiana, Reyam, Madison and Alessandra!
Staten Island is a close knit community where they really love and support their girls! We loved coming back to the Island. ❤

Girls World Expo is a day-long event created by local teen girls for local teen girls – our local Girls Advisory Board is made up of teens from Staten Island who have created a unique show just for you! We have also worked closely with our local media partner, to fill the day with seminars, performances, demonstrations and vendors that serve your needs in the Staten Island area!
Girls World Expo can change your life – come together with your friends, or make new ones at the Expo, to enjoy a magical day where you will hear from and meet successful and powerful women right from your own community who can show you a path to success! You will attend workshops, listen to speakers, see demonstrations, science exhibits, and speak one-on-one with women who are leaders in business, government, industry, the arts, and many other realms of endeavor. It's a rare opportunity for you to see what your future could be, and learn what it will take to get there.
But it's not all work! Girls World Expo is also fun. There's fashion, an art show, music and dance performances by talented local artists, and the always-popular GWE Marketplace, where you can see and purchase everything from hair accessories to self-help materials, and clothing to jewelry.
It's not just another day. It's a very special day. It's an opportunity to spend a day in a safe, secure environment inspired by the company of other girls and not just seeing but creating the future. Your future.

Many teenagers don't understand the impact of proper nutrition on athletic and cognitive performance. They don't realize nor relate food with a healthy mind dealing with emotional or mental concerns. Nutrition is a key ingredient to optimizing athletic and mental performance. Properly fueling the body is essential in reaching a child’s full athletic potential and cognitive function. In this workshop, Tarriss will educate and mentor teens on what healthy nutritional living is with individual body types, find their overall drive for wellness goals, and develop strategies that work for their lives.

CPR and AEDs simply save lives. By placing the skills of CPR training and the accessibility of AEDs throughout Staten Island, we help others help those in need. Where minutes count, the more people trained in CPR and more AEDs available to the community, the more lives we can save. In addition, by providing Heart Healthy talks in schools and for community groups, we provide Staten Islanders with the ability to take their health into their own hands and help reduce heart disease in our community.Presented by RN, Director of Operations - Rachel Volpe
