Girls World Expo is a day-long event created by local teen girls for local teen girls – our local Girls Advisory Board is made up of teens from Midland-Odessa who have created a unique show just for you! We have also worked closely with our local media partner, to fill the day with seminars, performances, demonstrations and vendors that serve your needs in the Midland-Odessa area!

Girls World Expo can change your life – come together with your friends, or make new ones at the Expo, to enjoy a magical day where you will hear from and meet successful and powerful women right from your own community who can show you a path to success! You will attend workshops, listen to speakers, see demonstrations, science exhibits, and speak one-on-one with women who are leaders in business, government, industry, the arts, and many other realms of endeavor. It's a rare opportunity for you to see what your future could be, and learn what it will take to get there.

But it's not all work! Girls World Expo is also fun. There's fashion, an art show, music and dance performances by talented local artists, and the always-popular GWE Marketplace, where you can see and purchase everything from hair accessories to self-help materials, and clothing to jewelry.

It's not just another day. It's a very special day. It's an opportunity to spend a day in a safe, secure environment inspired by the company of other girls and not just seeing but creating the future. Your future.

Exhibit your goods and services!

What in your life defines you? Do you think that who you are right now is who would will be in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? Can you even see that far ahead because of what others around you are telling you? As a teenager, Laura was told she would never achieve her goal of becoming an attorney. Over and over, she was faced with situations, educators, and family that made it seem like her dream was impossible. Come and spend some time with Laura as she shares how she came to believe that no one could tell her that something was impossible.

Becoming a Trendsetter2:15 - 3:00 Room 1

If you were to look up the definition of "trendy" it's defined as very fashionable or up to date in style or influence. The truth is that many are influenced by trends. From entertainment to fashion, culture is moved by what everyone is talking about or doing. The problem is, this has created a followership type of mindset where some are moved only by what is popular instead of who you are. Our young girls are influenced by social media that creates a false sense of who they "should" be instead of the belief that they are good enough. Becoming a Trendsetter aims to plant a the seed of confidence that everyone is capable of setting and creating their own trends. Embracing who you are and what you are capable of, will dimish the idea that we must be like everyone else because who we are is more than enough.

This interactive workshop supports girls in addressing insecurities, identifying strengths and learning how to own who they are so the generation of girls can too! By using group discussions and interactive activities that will allow them to make connections with other girls in a supportive environment. Girls will examine their individual needs, priorities and behaviors that need adjusting in order to make positive changes to improve their lives, so they can begin pursuing their dreams. Girls will learn how to become more confident in their personal lives, so they can become the leader other girls need to see. This workshop will help girls recognize opportunities in their current lives, local communities and households where they can inspire the next generation of girls. This session is for girls who are ready to learn how to leverage their individual strengths, by creating road maps that will help them accomplish their long-term goals. By attending this session, girls will explore approaches to addressing issues such as abuse, bullying, shame, lack of support and the negative impact of social media.
