We had an amazing expo in Des Moines with 500+ young women in attendance throughout the day!

The event was free for everyone to attend thanks to our generous sponsors: Iowa Central Community College, DMACC, Scheib Real Estate, BMW of Des Moines, Lebeda Mattress, Lutheran Services, Ronald McDonald House of Central Iowa & Courtney Conlin LLC. The Advisory Board did an awesome job keeping the crowd pumped up and our media partner, iHeartMedia, had on-air talent Taylor & Eric on hand too.

Iowa Central Community College was our Entertainment Stage sponsor. They gave away $1,000 scholarship. The winner was announced by Iowa Central Community College alumni, and American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe - who also performed, did a Q&A and stayed at the expo until every girl who wanted to get a photo with her, got one.

DMACC and Courtney Conlin, LLC were our Fashion sponsors. They had a Style U Fashion Seminar, and Courtney Conlin was also part of our Fearless Female panel along with Michelle Beck, an Iowa State Trooper and Kelly Jo Kalton from Gannon Roofing.

Scheib Real Estate was our Girls Mean Business sponsor. They spoke about Success being More Than Just Wishing. We also had seminars on Life Hacks of a Teen Girl, The Difference Between Confidence and Courage, and Staying Positive in a Negative World.

The entertainment was top notch. We saw performances from 2018 American Idol winner, Maddie Poppe, Laura Ernst from America’s Got Talent, Maesi Caes from World of Dance and Dance Moms, Iowa Circus Arts, Tiger Paws Dance Team, Spoken Word, Vox Feminae A Capella Group, Des Moines Derby Brats (#1 in the world), and a self defense demo from Farrell’s Martial Arts.

The marketplace included a variety of vendors from Color Street Nails to Tupperware and the interactive tables included a pull up bar with Iowa Dept. of Public Safety to a visual welder by North Central States Regional Council of Carpenters.

Thank you, Des Moines and iHeartMedia... See you next time!

Girls World Expo is a day-long event created by local teen girls for local teen girls – our local Girls Advisory Board is made up of teens from Des Moines who have created a unique show just for you! We have also worked closely with our local media partner, to fill the day with seminars, performances, demonstrations and vendors that serve your needs in the Des Moines area!

Girls World Expo can change your life – come together with your friends, or make new ones at the Expo, to enjoy a magical day where you will hear from and meet successful and powerful women right from your own community who can show you a path to success! You will attend workshops, listen to speakers, see demonstrations, science exhibits, and speak one-on-one with women who are leaders in business, government, industry, the arts, and many other realms of endeavor. It's a rare opportunity for you to see what your future could be, and learn what it will take to get there.

But it's not all work! Girls World Expo is also fun. There's fashion, an art show, music and dance performances by talented local artists, and the always-popular GWE Marketplace, where you can see and purchase everything from hair accessories to self-help materials, and clothing to jewelry.

It's not just another day. It's a very special day. It's an opportunity to spend a day in a safe, secure environment inspired by the company of other girls and not just seeing but creating the future. Your future.
